Pediatric Care

Pinnacle Dental takes care of the whole family.

It’s never too early to start good habits.  It is recommended children are seen as early as one year old to promote good oral health.

Along with good oral hygiene habits, dental care can help protect children’s teeth in the years when they’re most vulnerable to cavities and tooth decay. We offer dental sealants to help protect a child’s teeth when they need it most and fluoride varnishes to strengthen them.

Child Dental Cleanings

Baby teeth need to be cleaned too!  It’s a good idea to bring your children in twice a year for dental cleanings starting at the age of 2. It’s important to teach children how to brush and floss correctly at an early age, and dental cleanings will be effective in removing food deposits and plaque buildup on children‘s teeth. With good oral hygiene habits and regular dental visits, your children will have bright, healthy smiles.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride  helps prevent or slow down tooth decay, especially when it’s used from an early age by strengthening the tooth enamel.  After your child has their teeth cleaned, fluoride varnish is applied to the top and sides of each tooth with a small brush. It hardens once it comes in contact with saliva – so your child’s teeth might feel a little ‘fuzzy’, but they won’t be able to lick the varnish off. Your child will be able to eat and drink right away after their appointment.

Dental Sealants

At Pinnacle Dental, we usually recommend sealants for all fully erupted permanent 6-year and 12-year molars. A sealant protects the teeth, especially the chewing surfaces of back teeth, preventing food and bacteria from sticking in the pits and grooves that are most susceptible to tooth decay. Sealants can last for years with the proper care (good oral hygiene and avoiding biting hard objects), so your child will be protected during their most cavity-prone years.

Pinnacle Dental uses BPA-free plastic for our sealants. They’re quick and comfortable to apply, and can be done after your child’s teeth are cleaned.

Restorative Treatment

Baby teeth can get cavities and it's important the cavity be caught early because enamel, especially on the front teeth is very thin.   Getting a filling is a safe, normal dental procedure that will restore your child's tooth and prevent further tooth decay.  But won't they just fall out?   Cavities in baby teeth progress quickly and if not addressed can cause your child pain and could affect the developing permanent tooth.  If a cavity is found, our staff will determine the correct course of action to ensure the health of the tooth until it is ready to naturally exfoliate.
